Make it Stand Out
How is your 2005 Honda Accord different from everyone else’s? Is it the slick paint job? The clean leather interior? What separates your vehicle from the pack? Buyers searching for a vehicle to purchase online are looking for that spark, that certain something which makes a vehicle stand out and scream “BUY ME!” So any unique aspects of your vehicle should be included in your advertising. The more information you can include to diversity your ad, the more hits you’ll receive, resulting in a quicker sale.

Make it a Money-Saver
With current economic challenges, people are pinching pennies wherever they can. The pickup truck and SUV markets have been hit especially harder due to rising gas prices. As a private seller, there are ways you can make the best of these unfortunate circumstances without lowering your sale price. Ask yourself how your vehicle can put money back in your buyer’s wallet. Are you selling a smaller coupe with excellent gas mileage? Put it in the ad! Does your SUV have thousands of dollars in after market upgrades? Put it in the ad! Are you including a trailer with the sale price of your boat? Put it in the ad! Online buyers are a savvy demographic, and they like a good deal. If your vehicle has features which will save a buyer money, those features should be described prominently in your advertising.

The new Fairlady Z from Nissan was released to Japanese markets on Dec. 1, 2008. The vehicle comes in eight color variations, and sells at a ticket price range of 3,622,500 to 4,462,500 yen. While critics may question the release timeframe due to decreased auto sales and current economic trends, Nissan is confident that releasing the Fairlady Z was a sound business decision. “Many people might think the release of Fairlady Z at this moment (economically difficult situation) is questionable. But we would like people to know how attractive cars are by introducing this model,” said Nissan COO Toshiyuki Shiga. Nissan is expecting to sell 500-1000 units monthly.

n a recent press release, the American auto manufacturer announced that it is currently looking into “strategic options” for Swedish car corporation Volvo, with the possible sale of the brand as an on-the-table option. Ford pin-points the rabidly declining global automotive market, which has followed a steady downward trend over the last three months, as the reason for the review.

"Given the unprecedented external challenges facing Ford and the entire industry, it is prudent for Ford to evaluate options for Volvo as we implement our ONE Ford plan," said Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally. "Volvo is a strong global brand with a proud heritage of safety and environmental responsibility and has launched an aggressive plan to right-size its operations and improve its financial results. As we conduct this review, we are committed to making the best decision for both Ford and Volvo going forward."

Ford intends to spend several months on the review process; and will certainly take issues such as recent trends toward market recovery into account.
