Deals on Wheels! Selling Tips for Listing on eBay Motors Auction
While our Platinum Advertising Package provides more than enough exposure for many of our clients, we do offer service upgrades for those sellers who wish to expose their vehicles to an even broader market base, or who wish to move their vehicles as quickly as possible. One of these upgrades is a listing on eBay Motors. eBay has become one of the most lucrative marketplaces on the internet. Individuals have an opportunity to sell or purchase everything from collectibles and furniture to cars and motorcycles. For many individuals, it provides a fast-track option for selling their vehicles quickly and smoothly. Whiles our Customer Service team can walk you through an eBay upgrade step-by-step, we thought it would be valuable for our customers to have a basic understanding of what to expect when purchasing an eBay upgrade. That’s what this article is all about!
So who would benefit from an eBay Motors listing? The simple answer is: everyone. If you have a vehicle to sell, at the very least your vehicle would be exposed to literally millions of buyers around the world. Because each eBay listing is categorized by vehicle type, make, and model, you can be assured that your car or truck is being targeted toward a market base made up of individuals looking for YOUR specific vehicle. EBay is especially valuable for individuals with rare or collectible vehicles. Many collectors the world over have been using eBay for years as a primary market source, this is especially true for rare and classic cars.
Once you have decided to list on eBay, pricing is a very important factor. EBay is an online auction house. For those unfamiliar with how an auction works, it goes something like this. A truck is placed on eBay with a starting bid of $5000, and a reserve of $10,000. A buyer interested in the truck would be required to place a bid of at least $5,000 to “buy in” to the auction. At that point, interested buyers continue to place higher and higher bids. Auctions can be listed for 7 or 10 days. If, at the end of the auction, if the reserve price of $10,000 has been met, the vehicle has sold. The reserve price for an auction is not visible to the bidders. This means that it’s very important to set the starting bid low enough that it garners interest for your vehicle, yet high enough that it gives a reasonable idea of what you’re looking to get for it. Again, our Customer Service Representatives can assist you with pricing a vehicle for an eBay listing.
If the auction ends and your vehicle has not sold, there is still another option. Individuals who bid on your vehicle can be presented with a final chance to purchase the vehicle at a fixed price. This is called a “Second Chance Offer”. This is processed by contacting our Customer Service Team and requesting it for your listing. An email is sent to each of the bidders in your auction. At that point they are given 7 days to purchase the vehicle.
Hopefully this small article will serve to illustrate the considerations and benefits of purchasing an eBay upgrade from One Stop Motors. Our Customer Service team is standing by to assist with any questions you have, or to set up an eBay listing for your vehicle!

Get Up To $7500…Senate Passes Tax Credit for Buyers of Plug-In Electric Vehicles
On September 24, 2008 the Green Automotive Movement received a boon when The Senate passed a wide-ranging tax bill which includes a tax credit to buyers of plug-in electric vehicles. While The House of Representatives still needs to act on the bill, it is anticipated that it will move forward smoothly, as Congress is pushing to approve a tax bill before breaking for elections.
The tax credit would range from $2500-$7500 for a light-duty vehicle, depending on the vehicle’s battery capacity. One example of an eligible vehicle would be the Chevrolet Volt, which was unveiled earlier this month in Detroit. The Volt is due to hit the market in 2010. It will run for up to 40 miles on 100% battery power, after which point an internal-combustion engine would serve to extend the vehicle’s range further.
Some auto manufactures—such as Toyota—have expressed concerns that the measure would only serve to benefit a single vehicle design; presumably the Volt, which would be eligible for the full $7500 credit. However, the most recent iteration of the bill seems to have addressed many of these issues.

Chrysler Reports $400M Loss Through August 2008
It seems that U.S. Auto manufacturer Chrysler has been having a bad year. According to Reuters, Chrysler CEO Robert Nardelli reported a $400 million loss through the end of August, 2008. The loss was reported, according to Reuters, at a closed session for Chrysler dealers conducted on Tuesday, September 23rd. It was also reported that sales for the automaker fell 24% through August. These losses only compound a 1.6 billion dollar loss reported by the company in 2007.
Hoping to boost sales and battle the company’s image of manufacturing “gas guzzlers”, Chrysler has recently begun a campaign to develop a line of electric vehicles. However, lay-offs and deep cost-cutting may be required to fund the development program unless Congress approves a $25 billion loan package currently in-process for the company.
