1967 Donzi F-14
1967 DONZI F14
The boat is 14 feet long: the color is the original Yellow. The boat has 1 frot seat that is 6 months old and an exact copy of the original seat, yellow in color with stripes. The Yellow finish is clear and clean, and the windshield is also clear and shiny.
It has a Mercruiser with a 140 HP, 4 cylinder engine which was instlaled by me in 1998. The engine assembly was new when I replaced the original 120 HP Mercruiser. The 140 HP engine is exactly identical to the original 12 HP and both engines run good. The completer 120 HP Mercruiser engine is in my shop with the boat and it goes with the boat at the time o fsale to the buyer because it has the original serial number.
The #1 Mercruiser Outdrive has also been replaced with a new unit and the original housing has also been redone by me with all new inernal parts. The battery has been replaced with a new high quality unit even though the old battery was ok. I am using the old battery in my transmission Dynometer in my shop. The battery is 6 monthss old and I have always kept a quality float charge on the battery to protect it.
The galvanized trailer is in great shape with new timre and wheel assemblier, an new bearings and seals and lights. The boat has always been stored dinside, out of the sunshine teither in my home in Bostwick, Florida or in my shop in Jacksonville.
This boat is 1 of only 12 made of these 14 ft boatsmanufactured by Donzi in 1967. I contacted Donzi Marine in Sarasota approximately 8 years ago and was fortunate to speak with a gentleman in the parts department. He asked me many questions about the boat's length, the position of the steering wheel, the HP, a amall center hatch over the engine cover carburetor, and his last question was to check the VINN number on the transom. When I told him there was no serial number there, which originally concerned me ewhen I bought the boat in 1992, he told me iI must have one of the original 14 ft Donzis. Donzi built these first boats for Don Aronow in Miami when he first opened Donzi Marine. Don Aronow put up the molds for these 14 ft boats as collateral to Sport Craft Marine in Miami so he could borrow money to start his boat building business. Unfortunately, Sport Craft Marine suffered a major fire, a;nd the Donzi molds went up din smoke! The 12 boats that had already been made and sold became the only ones of their kind. The Sweet 16 became the next series of boats that Donzi's company made, never replicating the 14 ft Baby Donzi again.
I thanked the man for the information and was happy to know I had found a treasure to own. I registered the boat with the Donzi Registry throught Donzi Marine: the Registry to datee includes only 5 other boats of the 12 made. A copy of this registry will be included wiht the obat at the time of purchase; so far the remaining boat's locations are unknown.
I have been in the boat busineess for 29 years; I now only rebuild Marine transmissions and have been doing this for approximately 21 years at the same location on Sunbeam road in Jacksonville, where the Donzi is now. I am factory trained and am the only warranty dealer for Borg Warner Marine Transsmissions in North Florida.
This vehicle is located in Jacksonville, FL Ad ID #100456
